Four businessmen picked to spearhead P&P II effort

Four Cheyenne businessmen have been selected to spearhead efforts to raise money for an aggressive economic development program in Cheyenne and Laramie County.

Mike Ceballos, president of Wyoming Qwest, RBC Dain Rauscher Managing Director Paul Howard, Kevin Paintner, president of Community First National Bank, and Mechanical Systems Inc. President Bob Strasheim have been named “advanced division chairs” for “Progress & Prosperity II.”

The four will help set the direction for fundraising efforts for the $2.8 million P&PII, a joint project of government and private entities in Cheyenne and Laramie County designed to bring new businesses and jobs to the county.

“ We thought each of these men were ideal for these positions because of their high profiles in the community and their commitment to economic development,” said Mike McGee, general co-chairman of P&PII.

“ We expect their input to be extremely valuable in guiding the campaign’s progress, said Mark Zaback, who serves as general co-chair with McGee.
Much of the success of P&PII depends on contributions from the private sector in Cheyenne and Laramie County.

Each of the advanced division chairs has already started work to put together a pledge from their companies, work that should inspire participation among other companies in the county. They have also agreed to help with the solicitations for program donations.

The results of early fundraising efforts by the advanced division chairs will be announced when P&PII is formally launched in September.

P&PII is being launched on the heels of the highly successful “Progress & Prosperity” program, which raised more than $1.7 million and brought 1,138 jobs to Cheyenne over four years.

Leaders hope the $2.8 million raised through P&PII will create 1,200 new primary jobs and 1,020 new secondary jobs.
